Life is good: 1) Kelsey got accepted into a Masters program at Texas Women's University (TWU)! She will be pursuing an arts or fine arts degree in dance. She starts in the fall. We are very excited about that. 2) I got my car window fixed, $160 later. It wasn't too bad...lesson learned I suppose. 3) It has been 103-105 degrees everyday of the week with the forecast indicating the weather will continue to be like this for a while. If you live where it's not this hot, enjoy it for us. 4) I am liking my job alright. College to the full-time grind is a hard transition. I'm surviving. 5)Kelsey has a birthday on Saturday. She'll be 21 and alcohol will finally be legal ;).
This week has been a tough one to say the least. First off, it wasn't too easy to come home from the family and great weather in Salt Lake to the stifling heat at home. But more than that, we had some unexpected (and unwelcome) experiences this week as well.
On Thursday my friend Emily and I went to the Rec Center to work out like we do every weekday. We made the mistake of putting our iPods down (which we had never done before that day) and within probably a 4 minute time period between checking on them, they were stolen... They watched the security tape and could see the woman who took them, but unfortunately couldn't identify her. She snuck past the front desk while staff wasn't looking (with her young daughter), sat down next to our iPods, put them in her purse and took off.... yeah...
Then, this morning as we walked outside to drive to church, we were met by two police officers asking if we were the owners of the silver Camry with the window busted in. We told them what had been taken (pretty much just our brand new Garmin) and they're going to file a report. It took about 2 hours to get everything cleaned up (Grant fixed up the window with some leftover plastic stuff) and now we need to get a new window. We had stored the GPS was in the glove box but left the cord plugged in so they must have been looking for that.
So, basically we're left this week iPod-less, Garmin-less and passenger side window-less. Luckily we didn't lose anything we can't live without (beside the window) but we'll certainly be more careful from now on about where we leave things....
We spent last weekend in Salt Lake City because Lindsay got married! Taylor and Lindsay got married in the Salt Lake City Temple and it was absolutely beautiful. It was a perfect day (a lot cooler than the 105+ we've been dealing with) and everything went off without a hitch. Lindsay looked chic and gorgeous and I was proud to be her sister.
In addition it was so nice to see family and friends again. I didn't realize how much I missed everyone until Sunday afternoon when we had to leave again. Luckily, Linds and Tay will be moving to Kansas- only 5 1/2 hours away!

Last night we went to Medieval Times! It was in Dallas at a huge "castle" with a moat & drawbridge and everything. We showed up early so we were sure to get good seats.
When we walked in we got crowned and were told to cheer for the green knight. Of course, the green knight turned out the be the bad guy... but at least he didn't look like a woman like one of the other knights did...
It was pretty sweet! There was real jousting and fighting with swords and giant axes and one of those sticks with a pokey ball at the end (I have no idea what it's called). They also had a bunch of horses that did tricks and looked like they were dancing. We also had some great food- Tomato bisque soup, garlic bread, roasted chicken, spare rib, herb potato and an apple pie thing. Of course, we ate it all with our hands and it was really good!
In addition, we felt like to be ready for the evening we had to be dressed right! Rob and I went to Joanne's and Target and put together these outfits before we left. Pretty much we won the costume contest-- we even looked better than the Girl Scout Troop that wore princess dresses. Yeah... it was that good.
This weekend my brother Robbie is in town! In addition to checking out various parts of the city, we're going to the Medieval Times dinner! It is a medieval setting dinner inside a "castle" where you eat with your hands and watch a two hour show where "privileged royal guests are transported to faraway lands including a romantic snowy rendezvous in the woods and an authentic medieval tournament -- with the help of Hollywood-caliber special effects, of course." We are pretty excited. As far as Tanner family updates in general, Grant's job is going great! You can check out his bio here. I also got a job teaching dance and directing dance companies at Pat Riddle School of Dance! I start summer classes in a few weeks and I'm way excited! Otherwise we've been spending time putting our house together. We now have a washer and dryer, internet and a giant sectional that looked a lot smaller in the store... :) I have also been reading a lot, mostly about WWII. First off, HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to our wonderful and amazing Moms! We love you and are ever grateful for you.
Dallas has been great so far. We have enjoyed some yummy Texas BBQ, a nicer but more expensive apartment, a crazy freeway system, and some very nice people. We spent some time this weekend visiting the downtown area. There is Chipotle here if you were wondering - that makes me happy! Friday afternoon Kelsey and I went to The Sixth Floor Museum. JFK was shot from the open window on the right of this picture (you can kinda see it). It was a cool museum, very insightful and cool to peer into that piece of American history. We also checked out some other Dallas sights. Here is what the Metroplex looks like: We haven't quite got the feel of the downtown area yet, but we definitely felt like a minority down there.
So my job starts tomorrow. Here is where I will be working in Colleyville: We'll continue to keep you all posted.
