Snowshoeing Adventure!

Last Monday was a holiday so we decided to go snowshoeing!! We went this same weekend last year and figured it was a great tradition to continue (well, until we move to Texas where there's no snow...). We started at Sundance but when they told us we weren't allowed to go on the ski resort we left and went up above Vivian park instead.

Valentine's Day

We had an awesome Valentine's Day! We were especially happy that it was on a Saturday so that we could spend the whole day together. I got breakfast in bed-- pink pancakes and pink eggs cut into heart shapes with bacon! Then we made a fort in the living room! We had take-out Chinese food in the fort as well as playing some Zelda and watching Horton Hears a Who. Then that night we went to Barnes and Noble and picked out a book we want to read together. We decided on Yes Man, the book that the movie is based on. We haven't seen the movie but the book is really good so far and we figure we'll go check out the movie once we're finished. It was a great and fun Valentine's Day!!

Landmark

Today was a grand day in the Tanner household. For the first time, I cut Grant's hair REALLY well. I've done a decent job before, but this time was GOOD. I'm excited to become a GREAT haircutter... someday :)

Good Times with the Tanners

We've been up to quite a lot lately, but we have also been too lazy to charge our cameras... so just recently we started taking pictures again. So here is a numbered update of the Tanner family.

1. We're excited for Valentine's day! We're decked out with decorations and candy (if I don't eat it all soon..). We've also started planning the ward Sweethearts dance which will be sweet! It's a great season to remember those we love and find ways to serve them. We have been trying to do that.A Valentine cake I made thanks to Mama Beth

2. We went up to Park City and watched the World Championship Aerial Ski Jump Contest. I'm pretty sure I said that wrong... but you get the idea. It was SO cool! The announcer said the hardest tricks performed that night were the full double double double and the double full double double.... what?! Well, it was super cool, I think that's what he meant.

3. We went to Evolutions of Dance, a show at the Covey Center that some of my friends were performing in. It was a great show. I'm glad Grant will go to dance shows with me because I love them and would go ALL the time if I could. He's good at putting up with me :)

4. Grant is working full time now and it's definitely a change for both of us. We were used to seeing each other a lot more so we're getting used to a new schedule.

5. I've been attempting to cook a bit more-- I made potato soup and chicken and dumplings for the first time last week. I also made some easy chicken pot pie that was pretty good. Today I made my mama's chili and spiced it up with some extra ingredients. I'm certainly not a great cook/chef/baker/whatever yet, but I have fun learning!

6. We've been apartment searching! One of my good friends from high school, Caitlin, is living in Dallas for a bit so she's helping us find a good place! We found an apartment we like but they don't have openings right now. We're gonna call back around the time people will put in their 60 day notices.

7. We've almost been married for 6 months and we are happier than ever!

3 Jobs in Three Weeks!

The month of January was a kahrazy month. After graduation, I had a paid full-time internship all planned out at a place called Cost Segregation Authority. After working there for two days, my boss said they had only budgeted 8 hours a week for the intern: ahhh, WHAT? So I was out on the job hunt again. I then found a job at Funding Universe helping entrepreneurs get financing. After working there for four days, they told me that my department was being relocated to South Jordan: ahhh, STINK! So now, starting tomorrow, I will be driving all the way up to almost-Salt-Lake-City everyday. And the job position will change a lot. So yeah, the job market it pretty thin right now. Other than that, Kelsey and I have enjoyed skiing Snowbird every weekend. We're excited that Dad will be out here this weekend.

Back to School, Back on the Slopes

It's January and we're back in Provo! I started up school again on Monday-- it's my last semester! I'm only taking 3 classes, but they are all intense reading & writing classes. In fact as of this afternoon, I've already read around 400 pages! They should all be really good classes though so I'm excited for them.

Grant also started an internship on Monday. However, he was informed Tuesday that they only budgeted him to work 8 hours a week instead of the 8 hours a DAY we were originally told.... (I was NOT very happy about that). So Grant has been on the job hunt which is quite interesting. Needless to say, not many people want to hire someone with the economic scare, especially someone who will only be around a few months.

We've also gotten to go skiing lately so that has been great!! Last weekend my whole family was in town so we went skiing up at Brighton. It has been quite some time since all the Peterson's have been up on the slopes together and the first time in Utah! Everyone did great-- Dad & Grant braved some scary double-blacks and Robbie and I attempted a few incredibly difficult runs on our own. Of course, I had a few good tumbles, including one that involved sliding about 20 feet down the mountain not knowing which direction was up... I'm a work in progress...

Today we went up to Snowbird (we bought passes for 10 days there this season) and the snow was GREAT! It was a beautiful day all except for one run when we took the tram up to the top of the mountain. The wind was blowing SO hard-- you could barely see a person in front of you with the blowing snow and when we finally got off the top we had big wind burn lines on our faces. However, I did about 6 black diamonds and I was quite proud. I think I only lost a ski twice and always knew which direction was up :) However, we did have one incident where I couldn't get my ski on for 20 minutes or so because the binding moved when my ski popped off... I don't seem to be the luckiest... But you can't deny that I'm pretty daring! Or was that reckless? hmmm Maybe next time to be lucky I should deck out with these...

Welcome Christmas, Christmas Day!!

It was our 1st Christmas as the Tanners! After finishing some grueling finals (and Grant's very LAST finals!) we packed up and drove to Denver to spend the holidays with the rest of the Tanners! All of Grant's siblings and their respective spouses and child (Kate's the spoiled lone grandchild) were able to make it so it was big party! We did lots of fun things and spent lots of time talking and playing Rock Band and Mariokart. It was great :)

First, we went on a tour of the Celestial Seasonings factory.We got a cool tour of the factory including seeing all of the automated machines. It was a bit like Willy Wonka, but it wasn't smooth and chocolate-y :) We didn't get to take pictures inside so that was a bummer.

But we did get this great shot of Clint & Andrea in their lovely hair nets!

Christmas Eve was Rachel's Birthday. We all went out to dinner and then went light seeing. We saw some pretty intense houses:It took between five and ten minutes just to get down the street to see this house because of all the cars and people walking around! I really liked the ornaments in the trees- fun!

We also had cake for Rachel's Birthday! The big 22!

We spent a lot of our time over Christmas playing with not-so-baby "Baby Kate." She got lots of attention being the only grandkid and we took lots of pictures of her adventures as well:


We had lots of fun playing with our Christmas presents as well! We got an iPod touch from the Tanners and we have had lots of fun figuring that out. We've been sporting our new clothes and I've been attempting to make a new skirt with my new sewing machine-- except I'm quite bad... so Leslie redoes the stuff I totally botch :)

For Christmas Grant also got me tickets to an Avalanche game! I was the envy of all the Peterson family-- to see the Avs in the actual Pepsi Center!!It was a great game AND they won. What a perfect present-- Good job Grant!!
